NGC, NCS and PMG Appoint The Bolaffi Auction Group an Official Submission Center

Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC), Numismatic Conservation Services (NCS) and Paper Money Guaranty (PMG) have appointed The Bolaffi Auction Group, a leading numismatics firm in Europe, as an Official Submission Center in Italy and Spain.

The Bolaffi Auction Group traces its roots to a philatelic business founded by Alberto Bolaffi Sr. in Turin, Italy, in the late 19th century. Aste Bolaffi later expanded to coins and today is one of Europe’s leading auction houses. In 2018, Aste Bolaffi purchased two other prestigious auction houses: Soler y Llach International Auctions, founded in 1989 and based in Barcelona, Spain; and Harmers of London, founded in 1918.

The Bolaffi Auction Group affiliates hold several major numismatic auctions a year. As coins and banknotes are increasingly sold in online auctions, it has become even more important to offer customers accuracy, transparency and peace of mind. The Bolaffi Auction Group is providing greater confidence and security to the marketplace by working more closely with NGC, NCS and PMG — three companies renowned globally for their expertise and impartiality.

NGC was established in 1987 to provide expert, unbiased assessments of the authenticity and grade of coins, tokens and medals. It has since certified more than 53 million collectibles. NCS, a professional coin conservation service, has conserved more than 1 million coins since it was founded in 2001. In 2005, PMG was established to provide similar grading services for paper money and has now certified more than 7 million banknotes.

WASHINGTON –The United States Mint (Mint) began accepting orders for products containing the 2022 Native American $1 Coin on February 9 at noon EST. The 2022 coin honors Ely S. Parker of the Tonawanda Seneca.

Born Ha-sa-no-an-da into a prominent Tonawanda Seneca lineage on Iroquois land in upstate New York, Parker mastered English as a youth, and served as a translator and scribe for tribal chiefs in their struggle to maintain their reservation. In appreciation, the Iroquois bestowed upon Parker their greatest honor, naming him Grand Sachem of the Six Nations and according him the sacred name of Donehogawa (Keeper of the Western Door of the Iroquois Longhouse). Commissioned into the Army in 1863, Parker attained the rank of brevet Brigadier General as General Ulysses S. Grant’s military secretary during the Civil War, helping to draft the formal surrender documents during the surrender at Appomattox. After Grant was elected president of the United States, he appointed Parker to serve as commissioner of Indian affairs, the first Native American to hold that post. Numismatist And Author Miles Standish Announces New Projects

Plans include creating new coin designs, 4th edition of award-winning American Silver Eagles book, and NGC autographs

(Austin, Texas) February 15, 2022 — Prominent professional numismatist Michael “Miles” Standish has announced that the fourth edition will soon be released of the award-winning reference book he co-authored with former United States Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti, “American Silver Eagles: A Guide to the U.S. Bullion Coin Program.”

“First struck in 1986, the American Silver Eagles have become the most popular bullion coins in the history of the United States. The new edition of the book will include more information about these important coins as well as many additional illustrations since the last edition was published in 2016,” explained Standish. “The fourth edition is expected to be released in mid-March by Whitman Publishing.”

A portion of the book’s profits will be donated to the Standish Foundation for Children (https://standishfoundation.org) in Austin, Texas. Founded in 2010 by Standish’s wife, Andy Mangione Standish, a Certified Child Life Specialist, the Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works with healthcare providers in the United States and other countries to provide tools and training to minimize healthcare-related pain and suffering in children.

Exclusive autographed copies of the updated “American Silver Eagles” books, hand-signed by the authors Standish and Mercanti, will be available for $50 each including shipping. For additional information, contact Standish by email at MJStandish@aol.com.

Standish also announced he has signed a new consulting and exclusive coin design agreement with 7k Metals (https://7kmetals.com/home), a precious metals company based in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He previously created concepts for several best-selling 7k Metals silver legal tender numismatic coins including designs honoring the Statue of Liberty and the White House.

He also has signed an agreement with Numismatic Guaranty Company (www.NGCcoin.com) to be included in NGC’s Signature Labels program that features encapsulation insert labels hand-signed by famous hobby figures. Standish was an executive of NGC from 2015 to December 2021.

While working at NGC, Standish spearheaded and expanded the popular concept of autographs on encapsulation inserts with artists, engravers, former Mint Directors, celebrities, and star athletes signing inserts for certified coins and trading cards.

He previously was an authenticator and grader at the former American Numismatic Association Certification Service and served as an executive at Professional Coin Grading Service (www.PCGS.com), and Professional Sports Authenticator (www.PSAcard.com).

A native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Standish began buying and selling coins at the age of 17 while still in high school. In 2019, he established a $250,000 trust fund to benefit education and sports programs at Portage Central High School in Michigan where he played varsity football and graduated in 1983. He also donated an eight-foot bronze statue of a mustang horse, a symbol of the school’s mascot name, the Mighty Mustangs.
