WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) is pleased to announce the addition of the following women to be honored during the first year of the American Women Quarters™ Program:
- Wilma Mankiller – the first female Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation and an activist for Native American and women’s rights;
- Adelina Otero-Warren – a leader in New Mexico’s suffrage movement and the first female superintendent of Santa Fe public schools; and
- Anna May Wong – the first Chinese American film star in Hollywood, achieving international success despite racism and discrimination.

Designs reflecting the achievements of Mankiller, Otero-Warren, and Wong, along with those of celebrated author Maya Angelou and trailblazing astronaut Dr. Sally Ride, will be featured on circulating and numismatic American Women Quarters Program coins beginning in 2022.
“Courageous women have made countless contributions throughout our great Nation’s history,” said Mint Director David J. Ryder. “The American Women Quarters Program is a unique opportunity to honor a broad and diverse group of women whose achievements, triumphs, and legacies reflect the strength and resilience of our Nation. We look forward to sharing their stories.”
Authorized by Public Law 116-330—the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020—the American Women Quarters Program will feature coins with reverse (tails) designs emblematic of the accomplishments and contributions of prominent American women. Contributions may come from a wide spectrum of fields including, but not limited to, suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts. The women honored will come from ethnically, racially, and geographically diverse backgrounds. As required by the Public Law, no living person will be featured in the coin designs, and thus all the women honored must be deceased. The Mint will issue up to five coins with different reverse designs annually over the four-year period from 2022 through 2025.
The obverse (heads) of coins in the American Women Quarters Program will continue to feature a likeness of George Washington designed in a manner to distinguish it from the current image.
As stipulated by the Public Law, the Secretary of the Treasury selects the women to be honored following consultation with the Smithsonian Institution’s American Women’s History Initiative, the National Women’s History Museum, and the Congressional Bipartisan Women’s Caucus.

The American Innovation $1 Coin Program is a multi-year series featuring distinctive reverse (tails) designs that pay homage to America’s ingenuity and celebrate the pioneering efforts of individuals or groups from all50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories.
New Hampshire’s $1 Coin recognizes Ralph Baer’s invention of the first home video game console. The coin’s reverse depicts Baer’s brown box game “Handball” on the right side of the coin, with the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” The left side of the coin features the inscriptions “NEW HAMPSHIRE” and “PLAYER 1” on an incused background. “IN HOME VIDEO GAME SYSTEM” and “RALPH BAER” encircle the outside of the coin in a text that is meant to pay homage to Ralph Baer’s Odyssey game. The design is also symbolic of an arcade token.
The obverse (heads) of American Innovation $1 Coins features a dramatic representation of the Statue of Liberty in profile with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “$1.” The obverse also includes a privy mark of a stylized gear, representing industry and innovation.
The year of minting or issuance, the mint mark, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are incused on the edge of the coin.

In a message released Friday, May 28, we made reference to a global shortage of silver. In more precise terms, the silver shortage being experienced by the United States Mint pertains only to the supply of silver blanks among suppliers to the U.S. Mint.

The United States Mint is committed to providing the best possible online experience to its customers. The Mint is being impacted by silver blank shortages among its suppliers. The demand for many of our bullion and numismatic products is at record heights and increasingly outpacing the supply of silver blanks available through our suppliers. This level of demand is felt most acutely by the Mint during the initial product release of numismatic items. Most recently in the pre-order window for 2021 Morgan Silver Dollars with Carson City privy mark (21XC) and New Orleans privy mark (21XD), the extraordinary volume of web traffic caused significant numbers of Mint customers to experience website anomalies that resulted in their inability to complete transactions.
In the interest of properly rectifying the situation, the Mint is postponing the pre-order windows for the remaining 2021 Morgan and Peace silver dollars that were originally scheduled for June 1 (Morgan Dollars struck at Denver (21XG) and San Francisco (21XF)) and June 7 (Morgan Dollar struck at Philadelphia (21XE) and the Peace Dollar (21XH)).
While inconvenient to many, this deliberate delay will give the Mint the time necessary to obtain web traffic management tools to enhance the user experience. As demand remains greater than supply, the reality is such that not everyone will be able to purchase a coin. However, we are confident that during the postponement, we will be able to greatly improve on our ability to deliver the utmost positive U.S. Mint experience that our customers deserve. We will announce revised pre-order launch dates as soon as possible.

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) will accept orders for the William Henry Harrison Presidential Silver Medal starting on May 3 at noon EDT.
The Department of the Treasury has a long-standing tradition of honoring each President of the United States with an official bronze medal struck by the Mint. The Mint is now replicating this series of medals in .999 percent fine silver, each measuring 1.598 inches in diameter.
The designs depicted on the medal honoring President William Henry Harrison are by former United States Mint Engraver George T. Morgan. Harrison’s portrait is featured on the obverse (heads) with the inscription “WILLIAM H. HARRISON.” The reverse (tails) depicts a laurel wreath within a pearled ring, with the inscription “INAUGURATED PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES MARCH 4, 1841. DIED APRIL 4, 1841.”
Each medal is encapsulated and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

New four-year program honors women who made significant contributions to the Nation
WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) is pleased to announce the names of the first two women to be honored on coins issued under the American Women Quarters Program. Famed writer Maya Angelou and trailblazing astronaut Dr. Sally Ride will be the first distinguished American women celebrated on the reverse of the program’s circulating quarters.
As authorized by Public Law 116-330—the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020—the Mint will issue circulating and numismatic quarter-dollar coins with reverse (tails) designs emblematic of the accomplishments and contributions of a prominent American woman beginning in January 2022. WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) today officially announced the designs for the 2021 American Innovation® $1 Coin Program. This multi-year series that started in 2018 honors innovation and innovators by issuing $1 coins for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories. The Mint works with the Governor’s offices of each state along with subject matter experts to determine design concepts emblematic of innovation significant and meaningful to their jurisdiction and/or its role in the nation. After designs are developed and reviewed, the Secretary of the Treasury selects the final design for each coin. The 2021 designs honor innovations and/or innovators from New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, and North Carolina.
“The New Hampshire series of the 2021 American Innovation Coin is a fitting tribute to both Ralph Baer, the Father of Video Games, and the pioneering, innovative spirit that each Granite Stater carries with them,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “Modern technology as we know it – stretching far beyond just video games – exists thanks to the advancements first imagined and made by Ralph Baer.”
“I grew up just a few miles from one of the world’s great engineering achievements, and it makes me proud to see the U.S. Mint honor the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on this Virginia coin,” said Virginia Governor Ralph S. Northam.
“Built in the 19th century, the 363-mile Erie Canal forever changed the trajectory of commercial and agricultural development and set both New York and the nation on a path towards prosperity,” said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. “I want to thank the United States Mint for New York’s American Innovation Coin, which celebrates the Erie Canal’s rich history and recognizes the Empire State’s innovative spirit and legacy of ingenuity.”
“North Carolina is proud of its legacy of innovation in creating and supporting opportunities for all students to pursue higher education,” affirms North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper.

The New York $1 Coin pays homage to the Erie Canal. This design depicts a packet boat being pulled from a city in the East toward the country areas to the West. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “NEW YORK.”

The North Carolina $1 Coin acknowledges the first public institution of higher learning in the United States. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill opened its doors in 1795 and was the only public institution to confer degrees in the 18th century. This design features a stack of three textbooks with “First Public University” on the spine of the middle book. A lamp of knowledge is perched atop the books, and olive branches curve around the edge of the design. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “NORTH CAROLINA.”

WASHINGTON–The United States Mint (Mint) will accept orders for the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin™ honoring the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site in Alabama beginning on April 8 at noon EDT. This is the 56th and last five ounce silver coin to be released in the America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program. Mintage is limited to 20,000 units, with no household order limit.
The coin’s reverse (tails) design depicts a Tuskegee Airman pilot suiting up to join the fight during World War II, with the Moton Field control tower in the background. The pilot looks upward with pride and confidence as two P-51 Mustangs pass overhead. The inscription “THEY FOUGHT TWO WARS” is arced across the top as a reference to the dual battles the Tuskegee Airmen fought—fascism abroad and racial discrimination at home. Inscriptions are “TUSKEGEE AIRMEN,” “ALABAMA,” “2021,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” The obverse (heads) design features a 1932 restored portrait of George Washington.
Each encapsulated coin comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The Mint launched the America the Beautiful Quarters Program in 2010 as authorized by Public Law 110–456, the America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008 (Act). WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Mint (Mint) is committed to improving the distribution of our Numismatic coin products. As part of this ongoing effort, the Mint has established a new Authorized Bulk Purchase Program (ABPP), which permits qualifying bulk purchasers to purchase a limited number of numismatic Mint products prior to their official on-sale date under an active embargo agreement allowing their resale only on or after the Mint’s official on-sale date, time, and conditions, such as household order limitations. This new program is structured to better meet marketplace product availability on the initial on sale date by expanding the distribution of Mint products.
United States Mint Authorized Bulk Purchase Program applicants must be active members in the Mint’s existing Numismatic Bulk Purchase Program (NBPP) in good standing for at least two years, have a two-year revenue average with the NBPP of at least $500,000 annually, and have a history of full compliance with the Mint’s excessive returns policy.
This new program will help to enhance the distribution of numismatic Mint products as they go on sale, expanding availability of our products by utilizing well vetted business partners that have long-term relationships with the Mint’s Numismatic Programs. Not all Mint products will be offered through this program, and no more than 10% of products with limited quantities will be distributed under this program. No discounts will be given to ABPP members, and some products will carry a premium. The products available through this program will be distributed equally to Authorized Bulk members. The Mint will not ship product to ABPP members, who must provide their own product security and transport. Pick-ups will be allowed three days prior to the official on-sale date.

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) will begin accepting orders for 2021 American Eagle Gold Proof Coins on March 11 at noon EST. This is the last year these coins will be offered with the current designs.
American Eagle Gold Proof Coins are collector versions of the official United States Mint American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins. Struck in 22-karat gold at the West Point Mint, the coin’s obverse (heads) features a version of Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ full-length figure of Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Its reverse (tails) features a male eagle carrying an olive branch, flying above a nest containing a female eagle and eaglets. Available product options are below.

WASHINGTON – The 2021 United States Mint (Mint) Congratulations Set (product code 21RF) will be available for purchase beginning on February 11, 2021, at noon EST. The set is priced at $75.
Designed to celebrate any special occasion or milestone, this set contains one American Eagle Proof Silver Dollar struck in 99.9% silver at the West Point Mint. The coin’s obverse (heads) displays renowned sculptor Adolph A. Weinman’s classic design featuring the full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2021.”
The coin’s reverse (tails) displays former Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti’s rendition of a heraldic eagle with shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR.”
The coin is encapsulated in an attractive presentation folder that allows visibility of both sides of the coin. The Certificate of Authenticity is printed on the folder, and the coin specifications are printed on the back of the coordinating sleeve.
This is the last year that the American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin reverse will feature Mercanti’s “Heraldic Eagle” design. Beginning in mid-2021, the reverse of American Eagle Silver Coins will feature a new design.
