Priced at $18.50, the set contains five proof finish America the Beautiful Quarters® Program coins with reverse (tails) designs honoring the National Park of American Samoa (American Samoa), Weir Farm National Historic Site (Connecticut), Salt River Bay National Historical Park & Ecological Preserve (U.S. Virgin Islands), Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park (Vermont), and Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve (Kansas). Each set comes with the Mint’s Certificate of Authenticity.

Coins in this series feature a common obverse (heads) design that depicts the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan, restored to bring out subtle details and the beauty of the original model. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”

United States Mint Special Occasion Sets On Sale Jan. 3

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) began accepting orders for the 2020 editions of the United States Mint Birth Set and the United States Mint Happy Birthday Coin Set on January 3, 2020, at noon (EST).

The United States Mint Birth Set (product code 20RD) contains the following five proof finish 2020-dated coins from the Mint’s San Francisco facility:

  • One Kennedy half dollar
  • One National Park of American Samoa quarter—the first quarter of the year in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program
  • One Roosevelt dime
  • One Jefferson nickel, and
  • One Lincoln penny

The coins are mounted in a teddy-bear themed presentation folder in a gender-neutral color. The folder has space for a baby’s vital statistics, a personalized message, and a 3″ x 5″ photograph. The Certificate of Authenticity is printed on the back of the folder and the coins’ specifications are printed on the coordinating slipcase.

The United States Mint Happy Birthday Coin Set (product code 20RE) contains the following five proof-finish coins also produced at the Mint’s San Francisco facility:

2020 American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin on Sale Jan. 9

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) will accept orders for the 2020 American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin (product code 20EA) beginning on Jan. 9, 2020, at noon EST. The coin is priced at $64.50.

The obverse (heads) design features sculptor Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. The reverse (tails) design features former Mint Sculptor-Engraver John Mercanti’s rendition of a heraldic eagle with shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left.

The American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin is struck on 99.9 percent fine silver blanks at the Mint’s West Point facility, where it is encapsulated and mounted in a satin-lined blue velvet presentation case with a Certificate of Authenticity.

2019 American Innovation $1 - GeorgiaThe Georgia American Innovation $1 Coin is the fourth and final coin in this series for 2019. Its reverse (tails) design recognizes the Trustees’ Garden, established in the 1730s. It was the first agricultural experimental garden in America. The design depicts a hand planting seeds in the inscription “TRUSTEES’ GARDEN,” from which grows several species representing the variety of plants grown in the garden: an orange tree seedling, sassafras, grapes, white mulberry, flax, peaches, olive, and a young shoot too small to be identified. Additional inscriptions are “GEORGIA” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”

The obverse (heads) features a dramatic representation of the Statue of Liberty in profile with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “$1.” The obverse also includes a privy mark of a stylized gear, representing industry and innovation. “2019”, the mint mark, and the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are incused on the edge of the coin.

United States Mint Launches New Online Education Game “Map Mania”

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) launched its newest educational game Map Mania. This game teaches U.S. geography, helping students to learn the 50 states, state capitals, and state trivia based on the America the Beautiful Quarters® and 50 State Quarters Programs.

Map Mania is one of 12 free online educational games on the Mint’s Kids Site, which was recently named a finalist for the Best Public Education Website in the International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) Excellence in Currency 2019 Coin Awards.

  • Gold Rush: Pan for gold while learning historical facts about the Gold Rush in San Francisco.
  • Plinky’s Presidential Challenge: Learn the order of the U.S. presidents.

American Innovation 2019 $1 Reverse Proof Coin - PennsylvaniaWASHINGTON – The 2019 United States Mint (Mint) American Innovation™ $1 Reverse Proof Coin honoring Pennsylvania will be available for purchase on December 5 at noon EST.

The Pennsylvania $1 Coin recognizes the creation of a vaccine to prevent polio. The reverse (tails) design depicts an artist’s conception of the poliovirus at three different levels of magnification along with the silhouette of a period microscope, representing the extensive research that was conducted to develop a cure The coin’s obverse (heads) design features a dramatic representation of the Statue of Liberty in profile with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “$1.” The obverse also includes a stylized gear privy mark, representing industry and innovation. “2019,” the “S” mint mark, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are incused on the coin’s edge.

An informational four-panel envelope houses the coin. The Certificate of Authenticity is embedded in the packaging.
