WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) will accept orders for the newly redesigned 2021 American Eagle One Ounce Gold Uncirculated Coin beginning on October 7 at noon EDT. Production is limited to 9,100 coins. Orders are limited to one coin per household for the first 24-hour sales period.
Struck in 22-karat gold, the American Eagle One Ounce Gold Uncirculated Coin is the collector version of the official United States Mint American Eagle Gold Bullion Coin. For the first time in more than three decades, the coin displays a new, highly-detailed reverse (tails) design featuring a stunning portrayal of an eagle. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “50 DOLLARS,” and “1 OZ. FINE GOLD.” The design was created by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program Designer Jennie Norris and sculpted by United States Mint Medallic Artist Renata Gordon.
The obverse (heads) design features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ full-length figure of Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. For the 2021 coin, the Mint returned to its original historical assets to render a closer reflection of Saint-Gaudens’ original vision and detail.
In addition to redesigning the reverse and enhancing design details on the obverse of the American Eagle Coins, the Mint introduced anti-counterfeiting features that include a reeded edge variation on the one ounce coin.
To complement the new designs, each encapsulated coin is packaged in a black presentation case with the United States Mint seal on the lid. The case fits into an outer sleeve incorporating an image of the reverse coin design, and the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity includes artwork of the obverse design.

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) is pleased to announce the official designs for the first five coins in the American Women Quarters Program. Authorized by Public Law 116-330, this four-year program features coins with reverse (tails) designs emblematic of the accomplishments and contributions of trailblazing American women. Beginning in 2022 and continuing through 2025, the Mint will issue five quarters in each of these years. The ethnically, racially, and geographically diverse group of individuals honored through this program reflects a wide range of accomplishments and fields, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts. The 2022 coins recognize the achievements of Maya Angelou, Dr. Sally Ride, Wilma Mankiller, Nina Otero-Warren, and Anna May Wong.
“These inspiring coin designs tell the stories of five extraordinary women whose contributions are indelibly etched in American culture,” said United States Mint Acting Director Alison L. Doone. “Generations to come will look at coins bearing these designs and be reminded of what can be accomplished with vision, determination and a desire to improve opportunities for all.”
2022 Reverse Designs
The Secretary of the Treasury selected the final designs in accordance with the design selection process, which is available here. Maya Angelou—celebrated writer, performer, social activist

Wilma Mankiller—first woman elected principal chief of the Cherokee Nation and an activist for Native American and women’s rights

Common Obverse (Heads) Design
The obverse design of all coins in the American Women Quarters Program is by Laura Gardin Fraser, one of the most prolific female sculptors of the early 20th century, whose works span the art and numismatic worlds. Fraser’s design depicts a portrait of George Washington, which was originally composed and sculpted as a candidate to mark George Washington’s 200th birthday. Though recommended for the 1932 quarter, then-Treasury Secretary Mellon ultimately selected the familiar John Flannigan design. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2022.”

Collectors and dealers are encouraged to make hotel reservations now to take advantage of special discount room rates at the historic Broadmoor resort for the March 10-12, 2022 National Money Show in Colorado Springs, Colorado, according to officials of the American Numismatic Association (ANA).
Attendees can register for the show in advance and get hotel booking information at money.org/NationalMoneyShow.
“The Broadmoor, host hotel for the 2022 National Money Show, offers gracious hospitality and unmatched amenities in magnificent surroundings at the foot of the Rocky Mountains,” said ANA Executive Director Kim Kiick. “If you are planning to attend the ANA show, you should make arrangements now to take advantage of special discount room rates to stay at one of the most celebrated hotels in the world.”
The ANA has negotiated extremely favorable room rates for attendees: $169 for classic rooms, $179 for superior room and $199 for premier rooms. In addition, the usual daily resort fee of $32 per room will be waived, and overnight guests will get complimentary self-parking and free in-room internet service.
“Reservations must be made by February 5, 2022, to get the special room rates, but we encourage attendees to book now while rooms are available,” advised Kiick.
In addition to bourse floor activities, educational seminars and club meetings at the hotel’s convention center, visitors will be able to see the debut display of “The Medal in America” exhibit at the ANA’s Edward C. Rochette Money Museum.
“This important new exhibit will feature medals that trace the history of the United States from colonial times to the present, starting with the invention of modern medals and how they are made,” explained Doug Mudd, Money Museum curator and director. “There will be an impressive display that includes important George Washington-related medals from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania’s famous Baker Collection, recently donated to the Museum by ANA benefactor Dwight Manley.”
A member reception on Thursday, March 10 is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to unveil “The Medal in America” exhibit at ANA headquarters. Round-trip shuttle transportation from the Broadmoor is available for those who pre-register.
The National Money Show will provide collectors access to hundreds of dealers offering extensive numismatic inventory at all price levels, an auction, exhibits of rare and historical treasures, and educational programming for both beginning and seasoned hobbyists.
The show is hosted by the nonprofit, Colorado Springs-based American Numismatic Association, which is dedicated to encouraging the study and collection of coins and related items. The ANA helps its members and the collecting public discover and explore the world of money through an array of instructional and outreach programs.

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) today officially announced the designs for the 2022 American Innovation $1 Coin Program. This multi-year series that started in 2018 honors innovation and innovators by issuing $1 coins for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories. The Mint works with the Governor’s offices of each state, along with subject matter experts, to determine design concepts emblematic of innovation significant and meaningful to their jurisdiction and/or its role in the nation. Once the Secretary of the Treasury approves the design concepts, the designs are developed and reviewed. The Secretary of the Treasury selects the final design for each coin. The 2022 designs honor innovations and/or innovators from Rhode Island, Vermont, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
“From the birthplace of the industrial revolution to the first working offshore wind farm in America—innovation thrives in the Ocean State,” said Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee. “I’m proud that Rhode Island’s $1 coin pays tribute to our state’s manufacturing roots and sailing heritage.”
“I am proud to have snowboarding representing Vermont in the Innovation $1 program,” said Vermont Governor Phil Scott. “In many ways, Vermont is the birthplace of modern snowboarding, and this coin represents Vermont’s contributions to the sport, from physical innovations in boards and bindings to the creativity and athleticism showcased by Vermonters—and others who train in the Green Mountains—in competition on the world stage.”
“Bluegrass music is renowned worldwide as a deeply American—and thoroughly Kentuckian—art form. Arising in the 1940s from Appalachia on the fleet fingers and high, lonesome harmonies of icons like Bill Monroe and many others, bluegrass has come to represent the soul of our commonwealth,” Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said. “The American Innovation $1 Coin Program honors the trailblazers and accomplishments that continue to keep our great nation at the vanguard in industry and culture. Kentuckians long have been leaders and innovators across a wide spectrum of arts, thought, and commerce. As a state born of the pioneer spirit, we are proud to see our commonwealth celebrated and represented in this exciting program from the U.S. Mint.”
“The Tennessee Valley Authority’s innovation has sparked growth and economic development across our rural communities,” said Tennessee Governor Bill Lee. “I thank the U.S. Mint for highlighting the efforts of Tennessee trailblazers and look forward to the coin’s release.”

American Innovation – Vermont

The Vermont $1 Coin features a young female snowboarder in the air performing a trick called a “melon grab,” set against a mountainous winter skyline inspired by the landscape of Vermont. The aim of the design is to capture a sense of the energy and exuberance of snowboarding through movement implied by diagonal lines and curved shapes. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “VERMONT.”
American Innovation – Kentucky

The Kentucky $1 Coin pays homage to the home of bluegrass music. This design features a banjo, an important bluegrass instrument, tilted to one side, alluding to the rhythm and movement of the music. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “BLUEGRASS,” and “KENTUCKY.”
American Innovation – Tennessee

The obverse (tails) design of American Innovation $1 Coins features a dramatic representation of the Statue of Liberty in profile with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “$1.” The design also includes a privy mark of a stylized gear, representing industry and innovation.
The edge-incused inscriptions are “2022,” the mint mark, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

Currently an Associate Professor of African and African Diaspora History in the Department of History at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Dr. Fuller has taught at Connecticut College, Florida International University, and Emmanuel College. He was also a Visiting Scholar and Researcher at Boston University.
A coin and currency collector since his childhood years, Dr. Fuller is a member of the American Numismatic Association and the International Bank Note Society. His numismatic research has been highlighted in Coin World and the IBNS Journal, and in 2021, he spoke at the Metropolitan Coin Club of Atlanta, and his “Money Talks” presentation was featured at the American Numismatic Society. He is also the creator of the traveling museum exhibition, Black Money Exhibit: World Currencies Featuring African and African Diasporic History and Cultures; the Black Money Exhibit soundtrack; and the forthcoming documentary film, Black Women on Money.
Dr. Fuller holds a Ph.D. in International History and an M.Sc. (with Merit) in History of International Relations from the London School of Economics. He also holds a B.A. in International Studies, an M.A. in History, and a Certificate in Latin American Studies from the City College of New York. His notable awards include a Fulbright Global Scholar Award, a Whiting Public Humanities Fellowship, and an Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Grant. During his graduate studies, he held the position of Research Assistant in the Department of Coins and Medals at the British Museum in London.
Dr. Fuller is also the producer of the award-winning documentary film Queen Nanny: Legendary Maroon Chieftainess (2015), which chronicles the history and legacy of the 18th century African-Jamaican anti-slavery leader, Nanny of the Maroons.
About the CCAC
The CCAC was established by an Act of Congress in 2003. It advises the Secretary of the Treasury on theme or design proposals relating to circulating coinage, bullion coinage, Congressional Gold Medals, and other medals produced by the United States Mint. The CCAC also makes commemorative coin recommendations to the Secretary and advises on the events, persons, or places to be commemorated, as well as on the mintage levels and proposed designs. The CCAC is subject to the authority of the Secretary of the Treasury. The United States Mint is responsible for providing necessary and appropriate administrative support, technical services, and advice.
The CCAC submits an annual report to Congress and the Secretary of the Treasury, describing its activities and providing recommendations.

- One America the Beautiful Quarters® Program Coin
The final quarter in this series honors the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site in Alabama. The coin’s obverse (heads) depicts a restored 1932 portrait of George Washington by sculptor John Flanagan. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.” The reverse depicts a Tuskegee Airman pilot suiting up to join the fight during World War II with the Moton Field control tower in the background. The pilot looks upward with pride and confidence as two P-51 Mustangs pass overhead. The inscription “THEY FOUGHT TWO WARS” is arced across the top as a reference to the dual battles the Tuskegee Airmen fought—fascism abroad and racial discrimination at home. Inscriptions are “TUSKEGEE AIRMEN,” “ALABAMA,” “2021,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
- One Washington Crossing the Delaware Quarter
The obverse marks a return to the familiar depiction of George Washington by John Flanagan as it appeared on the quarter from 1932 to 1998. It was modified for the 50 State Quarters and America the Beautiful Quarters Programs. In this depiction, Washington’s portrait is larger, with higher relief. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2021.” The reverse depicts General George Washington commanding his troops through the overnight crossing of the ice-choked Delaware River prior to the Battle of Trenton during the American Revolutionary War. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “CROSSING THE DELAWARE,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”
- One Kennedy half dollar
- One Roosevelt dime

WASHINGTON – The 2021 United States Mint (Mint) Uncirculated Coin Set® will be available for purchase on September 28 at noon (EDT). This year, the set contains two folders with seven coins each—one with coins from the United States Mint at Philadelphia and the other with coins from the United States Mint at Denver. The following coins are included along with a Certificate of Authenticity:
One America the Beautiful Quarters® Program Coin honoring the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site in Alabama—the final coin in the program.
The reverse (tails) depicts a Tuskegee Airman pilot suiting up to join the fight during World War II with the Moton Field control tower in the background. The pilot looks upward with pride and confidence as two P-51 Mustangs pass overhead. The inscription “THEY FOUGHT TWO WARS” is arced across the top as a reference to the dual battles the Tuskegee Airmen fought—fascism abroad and racial discrimination at home. United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) Designer Chris Costello created the design, which United States Mint Medallic Artist Phebe Hemphill sculpted.
The obverse (heads) depicts a restored 1932 portrait of George Washington by sculptor John Flanagan. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”
One General George Washington Crossing the Delaware Quarter
The reverse features General George Washington commanding his troops through the overnight crossing of the ice-choked Delaware River prior to the Battle of Trenton during the American Revolutionary War. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “CROSSING THE DELAWARE,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.” AIP Designer Benjamin Sowards created the design, which was sculpted by former Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso.
The obverse design marks a return to the familiar depiction of George Washington by John Flanagan as it appeared on the quarter from 1932 to 1998. It was modified for the 50 State Quarters and the America the Beautiful Quarters® Programs. In this depiction, Washington’s portrait is larger, with higher relief. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2021.”
One Native American $1 Coin
The theme of the 2021 coin is Native Americans in the U.S. Military. The reverse features eagle feathers, which were traditionally earned in battle or by performing a brave deed. Eagle feathers are revered and respected, receiving the utmost care and handling, and are to be displayed proudly in homes. Stars representing five branches of the U.S. Military are in the foreground, while a circle provides an additional reference to Native Americans. Inscriptions are “NATIVE AMERICANS – DISTINGUISHED MILITARY SERVICE SINCE 1775,” “$1,” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” AIP Designer Donna Weaver created the design, which Chief Engraver Joseph Menna sculpted.an additional reference to Native Americans. Inscriptions are “NATIVE AMERICANS – DISTINGUISHED MILITARY SERVICE SINCE 1775,” “$1,” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” AIP Designer Donna Weaver created the design, which Chief Engraver Joseph Menna sculpted.
The obverse retains the central figure of Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste, by sculptor Glenna Goodacre. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The year, mint mark, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are incused on the edge of the coin.
